Episode 8:
Lucky Elephant casino and bar. Most everyone is dead. One waitress bringing drink to someone while terrified. Slot machine wins again. It's Chuck! you went easy on the rum this time, right? Uh-huh. you don't want me cranky. Keep them coming. She goes back to the bar.
Eileen fighting against a monster. She disables and runs. Sam catches up. Then she stabs the monster. Were you tailing me? He says you could've left a note. You think I'm being overprotective? She says a little bit.
They're eating at home. Dean has an answer to all their problems - maybe. Chuck is weak. But he's still God. So what if the answer is under our noses. The Demon Tablet. Sam tells her what it is. Why wasn't Chuck protecting us from the dick demons or dick angels? Like if he was out of commission. Which is weird when he's supposed to be untouchable. Unless he's not. Sam says he has an Achilles heel. Dean says a weak spot. Heh.
Cas knocks at a house. I know you're in there. Knocks on the window. Donatello.
To the bunker. He's not sure he's ready for this. It doesn't sound possible. They says we may be able to lock Chuck up. He has to exist or creation falls apart. Don says it takes the power of God to do this. Do you have the power of God? Sam says one thing at a time. You figure out how to lock him up, then we catch him. Don says Guys, when I go crazy again, just shoot me.
He's got his bucket of chicken for translating. This is interesting. There appear to be annotations by the scribe. Context to God's actions. The Almighty guards his secret fear, but it's always there. He only shares it with his favorite. Cas says Michael. Sam says if Michael helped Chuck lock up Amara, he might know how to lock up God. Don says Great! But Dean says Michael is in Hell. Yet he might be willing to help. God left in locked up for years.Cas explains Michael was in Adam and locked in the Cage. Don yells can't you guys ever do something easy! and then he's possessed! Hey, guys. Chuck! Prophets speak the word of God. Sometimes, like Bluetooth. So, here's the thing. I usually love our process. It's fun, like tennis with monsters. But this.....let this one go. Or I go all powerful. Maybe not on you, not right away. But there's Jodie, Donna, Eileen.... So drop it, okay?
Bunker's warding is intact. How much do you think God heard? Enough. Do we drop it? Dean tells Don to go home. He rushes out. Dean says like hell we're dropping this. Sam says they'll never be safe as long as Chuck is out there. Only way is to take him down. Cas says do we really speak to Michael in Hell in the cage, who's insane? Dean says if you want to stay here, stay here.
Dean and Sam ready. Cas heals the cut. It's Rowena's spell. Just without Rowena. Sam reads the words. Cas puts a match in. The three of them in wind. White light. They transport to Hell.
Pull blades. Now where? Cas leads. It's eerie down there. Then demons show up. Ladies.....we're not looking for trouble, okay? They attack. Sam gets kicked in the face. Dean tossed. Are any of us winning?! Nope. Rowena yells STOP. Hello, boys..... She's dressed in red and has some warrior braids.
**Of course Rowena would go to Hell and rule at least part of it. It's freakin' ROWENA. Survivor of centuries, powerful witch, and maker of endless mischief. Crowley's MOM.
Rowena's dead. But she's in charge. My soul went to Hell, big surprise. She took the throne. So....why are you here? Chuck. We need to rein him in. We think there's a way. We just need to speak to Michael. She's amused. But it doesn't matter. He's not in the Cage. Every door was flung wide. He could be anywhere. Dean says we need Michael yesterday. She yells at her demons to find him.
Eileen gets a call on the laptop. People are saying you're dead. Didn't take. Clearly. Sue Barrish is following vamps. I need help cleaning them out. Eileen is close to there. I'm in the middle of something, but if I'm free. Sue will call. Eileen adds more fuel to the Hell portal bowl.
Rowena says Sam killing her was one of the best things to ever happen. She misses sex. Amazon deliveries. But I'm queen. They fear me. I should've died a long time ago. Samuel, be a dear. Refill her drink. She asks Dean and Cas what's going on between them. Boys....fix it! She has a few regrets. Making Napoleon so short was just bitchy. And then everything with dear Fergus. One day you die and they make you queen and well.....fix it! Demon comes in and says Michael is nowhere to be found.
Adam is in a diner having a burger. Michael says that stuff will kill you. Worth it. I haven't seen a burger in ten years. Mike says go for it, kid. Adam doesn't need to eat, but it tastes so damn good. He gets a pizza. Asks Michael if he's going to Heaven. Don't know. In so many ways, I'm alone. Adam agrees. Mike says you have your brothers. Adam says I met them once and they let me rot in Hell. Family sucks.
Dean calls Don. We have a situation. Have you sensed a surge of power? Don doesn't think so. Dean says if anything tickles your brain, let us know.
They're in the bunker. Sam says he and Eileen have an agreement. If she needs something, she'll tell him. Dean says I tried the family thing. Sam, too. That's not for us. Dean says if it was to work, Eileen.....she gets it, gets us, she's hot. You could do worse. Okay? And she could certainly do better. Like, so much better. I'm happy for you, Sammy.
Adam still in the diner. He wonders if he should get a job. We'll have expenses. Can't go back to college with an archangel inside me. Lilith says hello. I've been sent to fetch you. Who sent you? She says your daddy. God. He'd like a word. Why would he send you, a demon, a speck of infernal bile. She says we worked together to set up the apocalypse. He says if.......he can come talk to me himself. She's not supposed to leave without him. I can't fail him. Michael glows and she's gone. People in the diner stare in fear. He says remember nothing, and snaps his fingers. Diner goes back to normal.
Donny tells Dean I know where he is! He's hurtling all over, Dean. He stopped. Staying put. Cairo, Egypt. Excuse me, I need bourbon.
Dean says we can't get to him before he moves again. Cas says then we bring him to us. He prays to Michael. We didn't know each other very well and our last meeting was unpleasant, but you've been through a terrible ordeal for many years. Beyond the reach of Heaven and Earth. Heaven is not what it was. And your father is certainly not who you knew. There's a battle raging, but you must know the nature of this fight. I'm not your enemy anymore. We all have the same enemy - God himself.
Michael? He meets with Cas outside. Thank you for coming. Do you remember me? You called me ass-but and set me on fire. And then you sent me to Hell. I did. Now you tell me God is my enemy? Or maybe you came to beg forgiveness. Cas lights a ring of holy fire. I didn't come to beg. Winchesters come out. Dean has the cuffs. Michael asks Castiel what have you done?
Michael in cuffs. this is stupid. Dean says good to see you, too, Mike. Sam, you look well. Last time I saw you in the cage.... Michael is not eager to trust them. Sam says we have to get used to losing people. Too used to people. We thought we had to say goodbye to Adam. We were wrong. Michael says tell him. Sam says hey, Sam. Dean. Adam? Michael lets you talk? Be? Yeah. In the cage we came to an agreement. We only had each other. Dean says I know we bailed on you and there's nothing we can say to fix that. Adam says how about I'm sorry? Michael takes over again. Why am I here? Cas says God is back. Michael says if my Father is back, he'll usher in paradise. Dean says no, paradise is boring. He wants to be entertained. We're all his puppets. Michael says you're lying. Adam comes back. Give it a rest. He's not listening.
Adam's thinking. Tells Michael that Sam and Dean try to be on the right side of things. If they tell you something's off with God, it's because they believe it. And if they believe it, it's probably true. Michael says I exist because my father wills it. Adam says maybe you don't know your dad as well as you think you do. Parents keep secrets. Does it hurt to ask the question? Mike says yes! It would mean I doubt him. The favorite son.
Eileen talks to Sue again. Sees Sue attacked. Eileen knocks at Sam's room. Tells him her friend is in trouble working a vamp case.
Adam? Not this time. Cas comes in. Mike says he's not going to betray his father. Cas says he betrayed you. I never liked you. You were too haughty. You had an entire oak tree shoved up your ass. But now I pity you. You were never God's favorite. You were a tiny part of his story. At least Lucifer knew God couldn't be trusted. He was always the smart one. Michael attacks Cas. Cas makes him see his memories. All the memories about Chuck. It's painful for Michael.
**Jake Abel did a great job of looking in pain and anguish there.
Dean finds Cas sitting in the kitchen. Dean gets a beer. Maybe you went too far. Maybe. Dean says maybe you went too fast. What's he doing now? Cas says no idea. he was very distraught. He says leave, get out, I want you dead. We didn't bond. Where's Sam? Dean says on a case with Eileen. He won't be gone long. The bunker shakes.
They go to Michael. God lied to me. I gave everything for him. I loved him. Why? I'm not even the only Michael.
Sam and Eileen arrive. Sue's truck is open. She saw vampires here? It looks empty. Sue says look again. Chuck! It was a trap. Hi, Sam.
So yes. I will help you. What was done to the Darkness can be done to God, if he's as weak as you say, and I know how. That's the spell. Ingredients? They have them. To bind the spell together, the nectar of a Leviathan blossom. A flower that grows in Purgatory. He makes the door. It'll be open for 12 hours. They take the cuffs off. Coming with us? No. Dean says before you go, can I talk to him? Adam comes back. yeah? Dean says I want you to know, we are sorry. What happened to you, you're a good man. You didn't deserve that. Adam says since when do we get what we deserve. Good luck. He leaves.
