"Heritage"
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME - While adjusting to their new lives in Smallville, Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) make an important decision concerning one of their sons. Meanwhile, tensions begin to rise between Lois and Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner). Lastly, Lana Lang Cushing (Emmanuelle Chriqui) invites the Kent family over for a barbecue. Jordan Elsass, Alexander Garfin, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wole Parks, and Dylan Walsh also star. (#102). The episode was written by Todd Helbing and directed by Lee Toland Krieger. Episode 2:
What can you say about leaving a place you loved? They packed to move to Smallville. Return to the farm. One SUV and a little trailer, eh? Left a lot behind. They get to make new memories, new experiences. Fall in love all over again.
Johnathan's playbook never arrived. Jordan only got 2 AP classes and got Spanish instead of French. Clark and Lois are concerned about Jordan going to school. He needs to get his powers under control before going to school. Jordan says guess I'm going to be a freak like always. Johnathan leaves the room to talk to Eliza. Clark doesn't know what Jordan needs right now. Lois says the stranger in the suit really got to you, didn't he? Her dad's working on it. He'll find him. In the meantime, let's concentrate on what we came here for. Family.
Captain Luthor raiding a facility. Gets into a vault. Looking for Kryptonite. Where is it? Man says he can't get it anymore and runs.
Captain Luthor returns to his base. His suit is low on power. We need to stop Kal-El before he does to this world what he did to mine.
Lois takes Johnathan to school. Clark flies Jordan to the Fortress.
Smallville High. Sarah finds Johnathan at the lockers. He's heading to World History. She asks about Jordan. He's not feeling well today. Her boyfriend confronts him. Football players are jerks.
At the Fortress. Enter the ice cave. Jordan asks what is this place? Really beautiful. Clark says I had a lot of questions. So I came here. Found my answers. Maybe it'll do the same for you. He brought the sun crystal. Krypton's history.
Lois researching Morgan Edge. Lana and Kyle enter. How's everyone doing? Adjusting. Lana invites them to a BBQ. Kyle's still on the Edge team. Mayor meets with him. Lana says tomorrow, seven?
Krypton dying. It's a lot to absorb, I know. Clark shows him the AI of Jor-El. Who you're named after. He's manifesting abilities. Jor-El is pleased they can further their heritage after all. You, Jordan, will be the one to do it.
Johnathan throwing the football. Jordan and Clark return. Lois asks how'd it go. He hugs her. I finally broke through. Taking him back tomorrow for tests. She's going to the city council meeting. Her dad's arriving. She's taking the boys with her.
Lane says the suit guy attacked Moldova. He came in a ship. It's assigned an identifier. If it goes airborne again, we got him.
Council meeting. Sarah is there. She tells Johnathan she's sorry about Timmy and the playbook. A woman keeps checking out Lois, so Lois goes to her. Christy is a local journalist. She wanted to introduce herself but chickened out. Mayor starts talking. She tells Lois she can have a job at the Smallville Gazette. My editor doesn't shut up about you. Morgan Edge there to speak.
Lane tells Clark that the days of the simple life are long gone. Why'd you bring the family here? Criticizes all the choices. Sam figures out he told the boys he's Superman. You ruined their childhood! Clark says it's going to keep my family together. Lane says no, it'll tear it apart. He gets a call. Mongolia. Clark flies off.
Edge says they'll provide 600 jobs. Lois has a question. The jobs number an estimate? Is there a number that's more feasible? Edge likes that she's goes after a story. He says he thought those mines would be fruitful. I was wrong. But I came to take a risk to improve the citizens' lives. But maybe it isn't worth the risk. I wouldn't want to harm these wonderful people. Maybe we need to discuss it further.
Superman finds Captain Luthor. Luthor says you destroyed my whole planet! And attacks. Clark tosses him up, then slams him to Earth. There's a bomb in Luthor's ship. People will get hurt. Me? Or them?
Make a choice, Kal-El. Clark grabs the ship and pushes it away from a building and out into space. It blows up. Stuns him into falling to Earth and creating a crater. Ow.
Johnathan wants to prove himself on the field. Calls a play and it doesn't go well. Tries another and gets tackled from behind. We already got a QB.
Clark discusses the suited man with Lois. Worst time for someone like this to show up. Your dad knows we told the boys. Figured it out. She's still working on the Edge article. He's not here to save Smallville, Kansas. He's here for cheap labor because people are desperate. Edge owns the Planet. He won't let you publish this. She's got a gut feeling this is why she's supposed to be here. Edge will destroy this town.
Jordan and Clark leave. Johnathan's sulky. Lois asks what's wrong? He says I just need to learn this playbook. She tells him he's a great brother. I know how much you gave up by coming here. Your life is there. Your identity is there. You said yes because you wanted to help your brother.
Jor-El says Jordan's cells can only release minimal energy from the sun. He doesn't even have 100th of Clark's strength. Human DNA is just too limiting. He will never be like you, Kal-El. Jordan disappointed and upset yet again.
Lois on the phone. Gets hung up on. Jordan and Clark return and Jordan and Johnathan get into it. Clark says we can go run plays. Lois acknowledges their feelings, but we're going to this dinner as a FAMILY. So get dressed. Clark says you heard your mother.
Sorry we're late. Lana is embarrassed she didn't have them over sooner. Everyone loves Kyle's grilling. Make yourselves at home. Plenty of food. Music outside. Clark says one hour? Lois says tops.
Sarah and Johnathan. What do you see in that guy? He can be sweet. Jordan says he should be mad at me, not John. She asks if he's going to school any time soon. Jordan says my parents don't think I have a handle on my issues, yet.
Lois and Kyle argue about the merits of unionizing, living wages, and owner profits. Kyle thinks short term sacrifices are worth long term gain. It's what Smallville needs right now. Enjoy your ribs.
Lois's story got changed into a pro Edge fluff peace.
DOD. Luthor is there.
Clark has to go. Lois will explain to the boys.
Lane orders them to fire on the suit.
Luthor's target is General Lane. Where the hell is Superman. Luthor blasts the soldiers back. Then Lane orders everyone out. Lights go down. Luthor inside. Stop protecting him! Superman? Stop calling him that! Where I come from, you're like me. You have to help me save your planet, Sam. Gives him dog tags. Superman arrives and attacks Luthor. Takes the helmet off. Lane runs out. But Luthor wasn't in the suit.
Clark returns home. Did you get the Stranger? Getting closer. How was the BBQ? Good ribs. She asks if they made a mistake moving here? He doesn't. But he has lots of questions. He asks what she'll do about the Planet? Don't know. But he's seen a fire in her with this story she hasn't had in a long time. Questions are okay. We'll figure it out. She says up, up, and away.
Johnathan talking to Eliza. She's maybe too okay. Jordan says you were right before. You moved here for me and I never thanked you. The least I can do is be here for you. Hologram said I'll never be like Dad. John says you saved our lives. I know you better than anyone. Something happened to you and you're different now. Something special. If no one else will help you figure out what that is, I will.
Clark tells the boys to take a seat. I'm sorry I left last night. They says it's okay. We're used to it. Clark says that's the problem. I've been gone a lot. It affects you. I can't abandon the world but I can't abandon you two, either. It'll take me time ti figure out how to be better at both, but I will. He gives Jordan the signal device. Get dressed. We gotta go.
Lois returns to the Daily Planet. Straight to Edge. You rewrote my story. Edge says I corrected what was wrong. I won't have my paper printing what is wrong. She resigns. A woman says he will crush you. Lois says let him try.
What can you say about leaving a place you loved? You hope it made you who you are. Challenged your beliefs. Pushed you out of your comfort zone. And gave you the strength to demand better. So you're prepared for what's to come.
Smallville Gazette. It's empty. Then a toilet flush. Christy. Lois wants her real article published. Christy is the one person there. When can you start?
Luthor will have to go forward without Kryptonite or the suit or his ship. On his planet, Kal-El wore the black suit. Lane died. To hell and back. Luthor says he isn't like my Kal-El. Not yet.
Next week - Lois's car blew up and Jordan yells at Clark that he wishes he'd go back to not being around anymore.
