"Keepers of the House"
SAVING HOPE - Desperate to save her daughter, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) turns to Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) for help uncovering information about the mysterious force that has set its sights on the children of New Orleans. While Klaus (Joseph Morgan) remains behind with Hope (guest star Summer Fontana), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and a reluctant Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) join the hunt, which puts them on a dangerous collision course with an unlikely new threat. Finally, Freya (Riley Voelkel) and Keelin (guest star Christina Moses) must put aside their differences as they embark on a journey that may alter the power dynamic in New Orleans forever. A Friday where I don't cover TVD or Grimm is a strange day. :(
Episode 4:
Marcel and his henchwoman in less clothes. He's having trouble shaking off the day he had. She says allow me to distract you and kisses him. Someone's pounding on the door. Vincent. We got a problem. Those kids never made it home. The ambulance is missing.
Cop drives it to men with torches. Children are sedated. Prepared for the ritual. A man gives him a token of our master's power. Will won't let anything stop us.
Elijah and Klaus return to NOLA with Hope and Hayley. Vincent reminds them that they'll leave town as soon as Hope is saved. vincent chants over Hope. She wakes. Mom? Vincent says she's purified. Klaus thanks him. Vincent says the only gratitude I need is seeing you leave the city. Birds falls around Hope! Mom, can you hear that? Whispers saying a name over and over. Vincent, what is that? Creole. The Hollow is coming.
Klaus cleans up the birds. Hope's fever is back. Klaus wants to murder witches. Elijah tempers him. Hayley will talk to Marcel. She tells Klaus to stay and protect our daughter. Elijah warns her that the Marcel you knew is gone. He's no ally.
Keelin and Freya. Freya's going to New Orleans. Keelin suggests getting Marcel's venom. But she's not interested in going. Freya gives her a wolf ring to control her nature. And its spelled to never come off. Provided you help me.
Klaus and Hope. She's so cold. Are the birds gone? Yeah. And when you're better, you and I are going to share the biggest plate of beignets you've ever seen. And you'll tell me where you want to go next. He's reminded that it's people who are best suited to fill our hearts, not kingdoms.
Vincent tells the witches that a faction of our people are sacrificing to The Hollow. Elijah arrives. We have much to discuss. The witches leave after Vincent's okay. Elijah says you need me. Vincent wants to work alone. Elijah says children's lives are at risk. Vincent says you care about children now? What about Davina Clare? Elijah says you see me as a monster. He'll be whatever Vincent wants. He will violate everything under the sun to save his niece. Vincent says we're doing this my way. Elijah says beautiful, your way it is. Damn, he's compelling when he's dangerous.
Street market. Marcel says listen up. For 5 years we've had a truce. But now, your problems are becoming mine. Someone is taking children! I have one nonnegotiable rule. We do not mess with kids. Someone's responsible. Give me a name. Hayley's there. One of those kids is my daughter. She's 7. All I know is she's sick. I don't care about the past. I'm just a mom asking you to help me. There's a girl named Lara. She drew the same symbol on her window in blood. She's a wolf. Ran off to the bayou.
Freya breaks into Marcel's apartment. Keelin asks why you don't tell our family about our secret project? Freya says they're sensitive about Marcel. Marcel stockpiled Klaus's blood. No doubt he did it with his venom. Keelin won't bloodhound, so Freya finds a safe with magic.
Vincent has the ashes of a witch who lost his way. If he can trace the energy to its source.... Elijah asks if this thing has spoken to you? Vincent says it's a broadcast. I shut it out, but a lot of people have a harder time doing that. Like your wife. Vincent says let's say we run into that thing today. It will use what you want to keep buried and use it against you. That's what makes you a liability to your niece.
Hope feels worse. Klaus says as we speak, your mother and Elijah are working with Vincent to make you better, so you be calm and it'll be alright. She says she could feel the other kids. The Hollow wants her, too. Klaus won't let it. I will keep you safe, always and forever.
Vincent chants. Sees Will.
Hayley calls Klaus. Tell me you have answers. Hayley tells him about the wolf. He expects her to show this traitor the errors of your ways. Marcel warns Hayley these goons will try to kill you. Hayley approaches Lara. I know why you're here. Because of the children. I'm sorry, I am. They're as good as dead.
Will enters the bar. Vincent comes out. Weird time to have a drink. Should be out looking for those kids. Vincent says I have this evil mojo breathing down my back. Took my wife, and I think it's trying to take my best friend. Will pulls a gun on him. If you did what it asked you, things would be different for me, for Cami. There's so much evil in this city! If I have to do one little thing to get rid of that... It showed me. Vincent says I can help you! Will says you can't even help yourself. You're in the middle of what's to come. They sent me here for you. Elijah blocks the bullets and disables Will. Quite a monster you have lurking in there. Want to see mine?
Klaus talking to Hope. The heart which beats in your chest is a warrior's heart. You are a Mikaelson. Whatever has hold on you is nothing compared to your strength. Yours is a strength greater than you know. Come on, Hope. He takes her bracelet off and she wakes. I saw them, the other kids. They're so scared. Promise me, if you ever see the lights, don't look at them.
The safe. Freya works on it. I can't open it. Keelin says they'll know we're here. Go help your niece. Keelin will use her hearing to crack the safe. go and I'll meet you wherever you tell me to.
Will's mind is blocked from compulsion. Vincent can break it, but it takes time. Elijah says you have 5 minutes.
The wolf didn't know this would happen. The children. I thought we were trying to take back our city. From him, from the vampires. For 5 years we kept quiet. It is not your city to rule! New Orleans belongs to all of us and The Hollow promised us the power to take it back. Hayley says you're Crescent. You have the pack. Lara says You were gone. You chose the vampires over your own kind. Hayley says you're right. But I have a daughter now. She's one of the kids in danger. Please help us help them. Lara says you can't help them. The Hollow wants power, the power that only comes from sacrifice. We will all bow before it. Even you. My only mercy is I won't be here to see it. She stabs her neck.
Will screaming while Vincent chants. He's my friend and I won't let it take him out. Elijah says finish it. Will screams. then uses the trinket against them. There's no going back, Vince. Vincent tagged Will so we can trace him. Right back to the kids. Elijah helps him up. Let's go.
Elijah and Vincent in the woods. Klaus meets them. Vincent says we save the kids, we save your little girl. Marcel and Hayley arrive. Marcel says we split up. Klaus, you're with me, I'm not letting you out of my sight.
Marcel says there are kids in trouble. Klaus says you left mine without a father for 5 years. Marcel says root our the problems, make them go away, that's what you do as kind. Klaus calls him a petulant prince.
Hayley and Elijah and Vincent. The blue light? Vincent says it's a legend. Elijah asks how do we kill it?
Freya with Hope. Jazz outside. Hope looks like she's troubled in her sleep.
ritual. Will returns. You may join us as we claim our power, our rightful place, and lay waste to all that defy our master. The others near the circle. Will is ready to join. Klaus says enough with these sadists and kills a man. Elijah joins the fight. Hayley and Vincent get the kids. Will says it's just begun. He drags Marcel to him with the trinket. Klaus grabs his throat and kills him. Now they're stuck in a fire circle.
Vincent says they wanted us here. Channel your power and anchor the Hollow to the living world.
Vincnet says the kids are live, but they're linked to the ritual. It's a sacrificial ritual, I can't break it unless I kill one of the kids. Hayley says there has to be another way.
Marcel asks where are we? Klaus says don't look into the blue lights.
Vincent suggests a loophole. We stake you with wood, you die temporarily, and it might be enough to break the spell.
Klaus tells Marcel to shut his eyes.
Vincent channels Elijah and chants.
Freya senses.
Elijah struggling. Vincent louder.
Marcel wonders what is this? Klaus yells to look away!
Hayley, do it now! She stabs Elijah.
Freya shakes it off. It's broken.
Did it work? Yeah. Hayley pulls the stake out. Marcel and Klaus are free.
Hope wakes. We're not cold anymore. WE?
**Vincent, I think you won a battle to lose the war here.......Well, obviously, The Hollow is most likely the big bad for the entire season since we only have 13 episodes.
**Wonder if The Hollow was a witch that's been a spirit and searching for a way to be corporeal again.
Kids returned to their parents at the church. Vincent watches Adam with his mom. Elijah leaves, satisfied. Hayley above. Marcel joins her. She says a lot of tragedy happened here, but Hope was born here, so there's a lot of good with that bad. The city's yours. I hope it brings you peace. Goodbye, Marcel. He says do one thing for me - tell your daughter she doesn't need to fear me. She never did.
Keelin and Freya in the old tower. Keelin says you make a deal, you keep it. I'm Team Mikaelson whether I like it or not. Freya takes her hand and whispers over the ring. It's done. The ring is altered. Keep the benefits minus the leash. Is this an apology or a thank you? Freya doesn't know. Not good at either one.
Klaus picks up a plaque. Elijah found an old friend - liquor bottle. Here's to a wretched day. A wretched day indeed. Klaus says soon as Hope it better, we'll leave. She's all that matters. He leaves the bottle with Elijah. Hayley has a question. If Vincent hadn't found that loophole, what would you have done to those kids? Whatever I had to do. She says we have to stop to make it a habit of putting our family over the lives of others. I don't want that for myself or Hope. She caresses his face. We have to do better.
**Yes. Exactly. Villains can be one-note and never evolve, but your main POV characters have to grow.
Vincent at the bar. Marcel finds him. At least we put an end to it. Vincent says Kinney's dead. The thing they idolize. The Hollow. It wanted us there. It wanted to anchor to one of us. Did we end it or is it just getting started?
Hope awake. To beignets.
Marcel wonders if it'll come after me. Vincent wondered if it hadn't already gotten to you. Marcel says he didn't see anything in the circle. Not a thing.
Hope munches and heads upstairs. Light flickered.
Vincent pours Marcel a drinks. I hope you're right. Funny thing about our city, though, Marcel. Nothing ever stays buried. He leaves. Marcel pours more. Lights flicker.
Hope wandering the hall.
Blue light in Marcel's glass. It's in the bar. He nears it.
Hope finds her dad.
Mirror cracks into the ouroboros.
Klaus is on a balcony. He turns and his eyes are glowing blue. Hope screams.
She's in bed. Oh no, it's here. The Hollow, it's here.
Next ep - Marcel and Klaus are infected. Neither leaves until one of us dies.
